I am super excited to share our newest venue spotlight, Hotel Colorado. This historic venue located in downtown Glenwood Springs, Colorado has so much character. I enjoyed being able to walk through this newly renovated hotel and wedding venue! Let’s take a trip through the space! You won’t be disappointed.
They have 3 very unique ballrooms that have all been renovated. Two of which have beautiful fireplaces that were discovered behind the walls during the renovation process. Fun fact about this beauty is that in the early 1940’s this hotel was leased by the Navy to be used as a hospital. They walled in the fire places for sanitary reasons. Touring the space all I could imagine was one of the HGTV home renovations shows and how they reclaim some really unique features from the original build. These fireplaces along with new carpet and lighting make for a elegant feel with a touch of history and original wooden floors.
I love all the character of this ballroom. From the beautiful ceiling and lighting, to the wood floor accents. This ballroom flows nicely from the ceremony site. You can dress this space up with décor, or keep it just as is for still a very beautiful setting! The natural tones of this room leave plenty of options for your vision.
Speaking of ceremony site, I love the intimate setting of this one. While it sits out front of the hotel it feels private. I love that it offers natural elements to make it feel very Colorado. Beyond these gorgeous trees is a mountain line that makes for a even more perfect back drop. The guests can flow right on to a nice yard area next to the ceremony site for cocktail hour and on to one of the three ballrooms for a private reception.
Another beautiful room that I saw on the tour, was this beauty right off of the garden area with access to a great patio. I love this room as a rehearsal dinner area for those wanting a one stop venue for your events! Or for a fun bridal shower! This room’s beauty and natural light is so inviting! Again such a great job with the lighting and design features of this room. I also love the idea of this room for the bride’s get ready area. You are situated right by the ceremony site. If you are like me and like to see the details come together, you can peek at all the details coming together since it sits so close to the ceremony site. The natural light is perfect for make up. I picture mirrors, tall chairs and some mimosas flowing! Or a fun cocktail party area. This room gives me all the warm and cozy feels!
The picture opportunities are also a great aspect to this hotel. They have some amazing areas inside the hotel, such as grand staircases. But their outdoor options are pretty amazing as well. The mountains surround this venue but so does downtown Glenwood Springs. If you wanted to sneak out for some fun downtown lighting pictures this would be easy to do from this venue. I love working with photographers who have shot in venues before. The more familiar they are with the venue the more options they know of. That doesn’t mean you have to book a photographer that has worked at your venue before. I recommend that the photographer spend some time at a venue they have never been. Especially during ceremony, sunset time to see what lighting offers, different areas.
This venue is perfect for anyone but if you want a touch of city in the middle of the mountains this is a perfect fit for you! The staff was so friendly and helpful! I learned that the catering/sales team have been there for quite a few years. That to me, means it’s a pretty darn good place to be! If you are considering the Glenwood/Carbondale area, give this one a looksie. You won’t be disappointed. Also, they offer rooms for your guests an added bonus for keeping everyone together. With an easy walk to entertainment and dining!
Next venue, the Arizona Biltmore! We can’t wait to share all of the beauty of that resort with you! Until next time, happy planning!
